The losers will be the ticket buyers

I've long been a fan of game shows. I grew up watching them as faithfully as I watched cartoons. I was watching Wheel of Fortune before I could read. I was watching The Price is Right before I knew how to count money. I was watching Match Game even though I had no idea why the double entendres were funny.

The good folks at Vegas Chatter noted earlier today that a new game show is coming to downtown Las Vegas. "Lovers or Losers: The Game Show" is coming to the Plaza.

From what little I know about it thus far, it sounds like nothing more than a bastardized version of "The Newlywed Game." Hosted by Willis of "Diff'rent Strokes" fame, the show will allegedly be taped for broadcast. There's a chance it will end up on some cable channel, there's no shortage of airtime to fill, but this strikes me as a lame way to make a buck or two rather than produce a game show.

I won't tell people what they should or shouldn't spend their money on. If you think $40 or more is a fair price to pay for watching some sort of competition between couples, more power to you. I'm sure it will be a humor-based show. And it's not a crime to pay for comedy. But I have a hard time believing I want to spend any money while in Vegas to watch a knock off of a television game show.

A real game show doesn't sell tickets to attend a taping of it. Even shows like "The Price is Right" and "Let's Make a Deal," where anyone in the audience could be picked to play a game and win a car, don't charge for tickets. And I bet enough people would pay for a ticket to see The Price is Right that they'd still be turning people away every day. But that's another story.

If you have to charge for tickets to see an unknown game show, it tells me there's not a cable network backing your show. If a cable network is producing a show, you'd think they'd be attaching their name to it, and promoting the hell out of it to drum up interest long before the first episode hits the airwaves rather than charging for tickets to an unproven commodity.

I suspect a lot of complimentary tickets are going to be given away to fill the showroom.

The Plaza's info page notes that couples participating in the game are vying for prizes, but there's no indication the prizes are anything spectacular. I'm sure there are some nice, modest prizes to be won, but I doubt that this show will be giving away new cars or big cash prizes with any degree of regularity. There might be a major prize offered to make the show seem legitimate, but I'd bet the odds of actually winning a major prize are long.

I'll be anxious to read a review of Lovers or Losers. I might be off the mark, but experience tells me I'll be more right than wrong.

  1. I just want to know if the contestants get chosen from the audience or what?? Thanks.

    1. I'm from NJ and won this through the radio station calling in and getting the correct answer! They called me this morning and told me the speil, asked who I was bringing (I said my BF but they didn't force me in any way to bring a significant other like some people here have been saying) and told me about the show, that it'd be $149 refundable deposit to ensure we'd be in our seats come game time to avoid any open seats as it'll be a live broadcast, and then asked if we'd like to participate or just be in the audience (I'm super shy so I said just audience). But the show sounds fun! The better you know your partner the easier it'll be as the questions are based on your knowledge of each other and you can win cool prizes!!! Airfare to Vegas isn't that expensive anyway and they provide you with 3 days 2 nights stay at the Plaza and an entire year to actually go so long as you register right away... sounds awesome!!! I'm super excited as we've wanted to go vegas this year anyway!!

    2. A "live broadcast?" Not a chance. (As soon as I say that, it will beat the billion-to-1 odds and end up broadcast live somehow.)

I will be stunned if footage of this show shows up on anything other than Youtube.

    3. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my boyfriend and I won tickets to appear on this show and just got screwed out of our trip!! This is bullshit... don't expect to go anywhere. You'll never leave the ground unless you pay for your trip.

  2. As far as I know, yes, the contestants are people who show up, however they obtained tickets. I've read that a lot of promoting of the show to locals, via free or heavily discounted tickets, has been part of the strategy to draw a crowd to this show. How they figure out who the best couples are to get up in front of a crowd and play their silly game, I have no idea.

    1. That's a pretty good prize, most likely. Taxes on that prize, and fees you will likely have to pay in order to redeem the prize will likely cost you several hundred dollars, but that's still a lot less than what you'd pay to book the trip at retail price. Congratulations.

    2. So then you bought a timeshare? In the end, you lost anyway... You have to buy a timeshare to have a chance to be on the show.. minimum of $399 a month sooo... who really won?

      Delete
    3. I was on the show. You don't have to buy a timeshare to be on the show. The host was advertising on Fremont street and picked me and my husband out of the crowd and asked us to be on. All we had to pay for were 2 mandatory drinks each. We didn't win the game but they gave us a gift card for participating. It's a STUPID show and I wouldn't even call it a game show but it was fun never the less! It's a funny little vegas story we get to tell our kids and friends about.

    4. Thanks for sharing your experience, Anonymous from April 8. I never bothered to respond to the prior comment because I figured most people have enough common sense to know that even if this "game show" is being used as a way to find potentail customers for a timeshare property, you don't have to buy one to be part of the cheesy game.

I have never seen the show, but it sounds like it's loosly based upon The Newlywed Game. From a marketing standpoint, of course they'll claim you're seeing a game show (which technically it probabaly is; there's no rule that says a "game show" must be televised in order to fit the definition.)

  5. I won this opportunity thru a radio advertisement. You know, the be the X# caller with the correct answer. In my case it was the 27th caller. Which I thought odd. Question was simple. It started out sounding great.
YOU'VE JUST WON....."WHERE COUPLES MEET THEIR MATCH",
WELCOME YOU TO BE THEIR SPECIAL GUEST
    IN FABULOUS LAS VEGAS, NEVADA!
HERE IS WHAT YOUR SPECIAL INVITATION INCLUDES:
3 DAYS AND 2 NIGHTS STANDARD ACCOMMODATIONS PROVIDED AT THE PLAZA HOTEL AND CASINO...
Then they let you know that of course you have to provide your own transportation to Vegas. I live in TN. Oh, and it doesn't cost you anything.....except you have to put up a 149.95 deposit to reserve your room however you get that back as long as you show up to the game show. They want to make certain you fill the seats in the audience. Only requirement is you must be a couple.
Not sure if this is a good deal. It may be if you live in Vegas and don't have to dish out airfare. I don't think this is the proper way to promote the game show. I'm sure everyone calling in to the radio show is the winner. I hear the add on the radio more and more lately. Just want to give a recent account of what they are giving and expecting from you.

    1. The promotion in and of itself is not a new concept. Promotions offering free rooms for two or three nights in exchange for some of your time is an old trick, often used in the timeshare business.

I actually received a Vegas vacation trip in exchange for attending a timeshare presentation here in Minnesota. It included airfare and two nights at a Vegas timeshare property. Yes, they wanted a refundable $100 or something like that to ensure that I didn't book the trip and then no show when it came time to board the flight. I was so poor and so in debt at that point in my life that I couldn't justify taking advantage of the free trip, even with airfare.

Casinos give comped rooms to low rollers like me, but they don't pay for my airfare to be there. The "prize" you won is similar, and a nice prize, if you're in the mood to pay for airfare. Giving away a Vegas-based prize on a Tennessee radio station seems lame given that redeeming the prize requires you spending hundreds of dollars. You couldn't even drive round trip to Vegas for less than $200, and gas prices are low right now.

I've seen a promotion like this offered online by the Plaza, (where I've never stayed,) and I'd take them up on it if I could. I'd gladly make my girlfriend sit through a lame version of the dating game in order to pay for our two nights at the Plaza, but I don't think we have another Vegas vacation in our future for a long time. She wants a break from Vegas (we've been there three times during the last 12 months) and she's not interested in going during my Halloween 2016 group trip.

    2. I also won by being a X# caller on answering a radio promoting the lovers or losers. Attracting couples of course, to either participate ON the show, or to Not, by being part of the audience. I got referred to the terms and conditions, as te previous person statee,...and gave my Credit card number, altho, I asked if they could wait 3 days and call me back, since I needed to consult the no liv-in boyfie,...as to when in the next year we could go... of course, he is going already planning with others...next summer, and thus he turned this event with me down. So when they called, I had to decline the winning, since I could not book a date. No charges, no booking, Thank you for your time, and done.

  6. At Unknown, yes, I agree with you. We also live in Tennessee and my husband called in 8th caller and won on the radio show. I believe everyone wins. Because I called the number to follow up on what my husband said, and guess what, I was congratulated as a winner, also. Paying airfare is a big thing. And having to pay the $149.95 up front deposit made me feel like it was a scam.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think the deposit is a scam, it's not an uncommon practice. They don't want a bunch of people booking free rooms on a whim and never showing up to use them. They want to give them away, but they don't want hundreds of rooms waiting for people who don't show up.

As I said to "Unknown," giving away a prize in Tennessee that will cost you hundreds of dollars to use doesn't seem like much of a prize.

It's basically Plaza advertising disguised as a radio prize. The radio station gets to give away a cool sounding prize, but the reality is that it's in trade for on-air promotion/advertising for the Plaza.

  7. Every game show you go to your right does not charge but you will not be able to get on it so easy its a very hard to get on it and you will seat there for 4 to five hours and you can not have drink at all . Anytime you win a prize from any show you will pay the taxes I got on a game show won a car but I could not pay the taxes so I sold it made like 3000 of it but you guys think things in life are free its a small cost to have fun and its not just a game show for time share you can go watch it and have nothing to do with the time share

    1. I'm not sure what your point is, but yes, you can wait hours to appear on a real game show and not be served a cocktail, and yes, you pay taxes on prizes won, and the retail price of the prize for tax purposes is higher than you'd ever pay in the free market.

No, not everything in life is free, I don't think anybody thinks there is. If paying for tickets to a knock-off game show and buying cocktails to drink while watching Todd Bridges host said game show is of value to you, more power to you. In one sense, buying a ticket to Lovers or Losers is a different form of gambling. I just don't see it as a good gamble. Now if you tell me that it's a legit game show, one that is going to be televised, and therefore they're offering a legit chance to win a new car during every show, then I might change my tune.

Not sure if I responded to the point you're making, but I'm still confused as to what that point is.

    2. Actually, my husband and I were on it... we waited in line about 5 minutes for the showroom to open up, we did a mini-interview to be contestants that was another 5 minutes and we waited about another 5 minutes after that before the show began. As luck would have it, they called us as the first contestant couple... LOL Yes, the cocktails were available immediately upon admission to the theater, it was a very small intimate crowd (Plaza guests and some people who had attended a timeshare presentation mostly), and the prizes were good. Yes, you have to pay taxes on them but eh, the Orlando vacation they gave away the night we were on would totally be worth it. BTW, We were not offered the hotel room and admission to the show as we were already in Vegas when we got the (free) tickets...

  8. I just "won" caller number 7. All the above seems accurate. It sounded too good to be true. I did allow them to proces the 149. on my credit card. They said we get it back in cash upon check in. I live in Austin. I figured the game show is something to do. The prizes do sound like time share prizes, so NIX on that! If it costs us nothing but airfare or rent a car from Austin and travel soon w/the lost fuel costs..why not? This page helped me confirm it most likely is not a scam, but a way to get people in for time shares (possibly) w/o having to participate in a presentation.

Enjoy your inexpensive vacation in Vegas, and good luck at the one-arm bandits! (Do they even make slot machines with pull arms any more?)

  9. The Plaza does not attach their name to the show. The show has potential, but the front runners are not willing to put in the money to make it there. The show is mostly there to obtain time shares for the one sponser of the show. It's worth a good laugh and you can get free tickets because they want an audience. There is a qay to get in and see it and even be on stage for free.

    1. I can't say what the Plaza does or does not do regarding this show, but they're part of the promotion of it. I doubt they rented out the space and washed their hands of the content.

Without having seen it, this show sounds like little more than a spin on the Newlywed Game, and all the evidence sounds to me as if it's primarily a vehicle to market time shares.

    2. My husband works at the plaza. After you view a timeshare presentation, sometimes they will throw in these free tickets and other free stuff as an appreciation and to fill up the show that night. If you hung around the plaza in any capacity, you would eventually probably be offered these tickets. It's not a scam, just some fun, but if i had to buy expensive airfare, probably not worth it. If you gets 2 or 3 nights hotel in vegas, then its worth it.

  11. Me and my husband was called earlier today saying that we won through the radio contest. A 2 night, 3 day stay at the hotel, and free tickets to the show. We'd have to pay the $149 deposit, but we'd get it back. I'd actually be excited to go. Even if they just want to try and sell timeshares. I'm under the impression that we wouldn't have to buy anything. It's a free room in vegas for a couple nights, and a free showing of a fun little show. My only concern was that it was a scam. But if other people are doing it and having fun, I don't really see why not. I told her I would call her back. That I was not sure yet. Me and my husband are Newlyweds. We're about to celebrate our first anniversary. I think it'd be nice for us to do. Granted yes we'd have to pay for our own airfare. But staying in Vegas for free still sounds nice.

  14. **Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware*** I worked for these guys- this Game Show is a fraudulent front for selling timeshares. TLC Marketing runs radio ads with trivia question- anybody who calls is a winner-the winner gets told they have reached an intern with the show, they say 3 days/2 nights free, 2 tickets to the game show, and $100 "promotional" slot play (not free play). They ask for $149.00 deposit. They then say you come to Vegas get your room, go to the lovers or losers desk and get 2 tickets to Lovers or Losers and your $149.00 back in cash....they forget to tell you you are required to but 2 drinks each ($50) $15.00+ tax resort fee per night ($30) and then slam you on a timeshare tour. They will tell you you will get selected as contestants and get on Stage with Todd Bridges with a chance to win a cruise. So full of it- TLC and The Plaza- another Vegas scam. Good luck standing up to these Vegas thugs.

    1. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the information provided by Stev, so reader beware. He raises a good point, drink minimums for the show and resort fees will diminish the value of a free room. From my experience, show rooms that offer free tickets with a drink minimum charge a ridiculous amount for a low quality drink, so take that into consideration. I love Mac King's magic show, been to it a few times. You can easily get free tickets, but the last time I went the mediocre one-drink minimum cost me about $13.50. No way I'd pay that much for a mediocre drink if given a choice, but that's part of the deal. So that free ticket is really a $13.50 ticket, as far as I'm concerned, but it's a price I happily pay for a great magic show.

Again, consider fees or other things that factor into these free rooms. Two nights at less than $100 total is a decent deal if you can get those free nights on a weekend. As for the painful timeshare pitches, they always take longer than they promise, and they don't want to make it easy for you to end the charade.

      Thanks for the info Stev.

    5. Turns out he's also doing stand-up comedy... and he's here in Minnesota this weekend. It's interesting, the Plaza website was selling Lovers or Losers tickets for this weekend, but Todd ain't there to host it. I have no clue if they have a guest host for this weekend or if they canceled this weekend's performances and never bothered to remove the dates from the website. (I suspect they sell very through tickets via the website.)

While this might be a crappy "hosting" gig, it has been going on for quite a while, and there are a lot of celebs who take less than ideal jobs to keep their name out there. This gig might not be such a bad thing for Todd.

He was just on Dr. Oz this week for an episode about former child stars, and I caught 60 seconds of it. It showed a clip of him hosting this farce, and he was in good spirits.

I doubt they'd take the time to upload video of it to youtube. 19. IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS:

You might want to find a Las Vegas message forum to have a discussion about the validity of this offer. This blog entry has generated about 20 times more traffic than any other blog entry I have written. While I appreciate the traffic, this isn't the format to have a meaningful discussion of the pros and cons of this "game show," or offers to stay at the Plaza.

That said, I HIGHLY recommend people spend five minutes reading this blog entry and the comments associated with it. If you want to know the likelihood that this is a scam, there's some good info contained within the multiple responses. I'm not going to rehash it every time somebody comes to this blog and wonders if it is a legitimate offer. If you really want to know, spend five minutes reading this page. It will give you enough information to decide if this offer at the Plaza is worth your time and effort.

In my opinion, the Plaza isn't in the business of having its name, and reputation, sullied by running a free night/ticket scam using its hotel. The deal may not be as great of a deal when you factor in likely costs associated with the deal (resort fee, room taxes and drink minimums during the show), but you're not going to get burned, especially if you use a credit card that will protect you.

If you take advantage of the offer, good luck in Sin City!

    1. It is not a timeshare what so ever
    2. It has nothing to do with the Hotel
    3. Producers of Lovers or Losers are fitting the bill. They just want the $149 for people to show commitment and to hold their room for them so we aren't wasting money.
    4. We don't get free media promo. We spend over $100k a month on National Media

I just wish that people would stop calling a wonderful legitimate company a Scam or a timeshare. I wish people would get their facts straight before all of these assumptions.

Every Prize Give away no matter what it is on any Game Show even national Game shows require all winning contestants to pay for Taxes, Resort Fees, etc. It is out of our hands if a Hotel charges resort fees. Again people need to get their facts in check before trying to ruin a reputable company.

The same show is Sunday thru Wednesday. Anyone can book on Friday or Saturday for a small discounted surcharge of $25 to $45/Night directly from the hotel as part of the lovers or losers radio promotion. We need people to be apart of a Live Audience and Contestants. Every popular game show had to go through a national casting call before it they were approved to be aired on Nationally broadcast network. We send out emails of the confirmation of booking and it explains everything what was mentioned on the call and also mentions in the email about the small $15 per day Resort Fee and required to buy 2 drinks per ticket. That's it.. No timeshare, No B.S.!

    2. Someone needs to brush up on their customer service skills. Your "I just wish that people would stop calling a wonderful legitimate company a Scam or a timeshare. I wish people would get their facts straight before all of these assumptions" is EXTREMELY unprofessional.

I personally don't think it's a scheme but I will say that I'm slightly disappointed that I couldn't use the prize. I guess inadvertently when we won our prize the ladies only give us a piece of paper stating we was prize winners number three. So when we received pack in mail regarding taxes, I tried several times via Facebook, email once I was able to speak to a person. He wasn't very helpful and gave me a 1-800 number to call. But that person infomed me about a certificate... In the end me and husband just decided to not redeem our prize, due to not having all the necessary information to make a decision if it was worthwhile.

  27. Also,it would've been nice if they told you when the show aired... probably the only time I'm going to be on television

    1. You're convinced you're going to be on TV, huh? I've told you before not to expect it to turn up on TV, but you seem convinced.

I wrote this blog post more than 10 months ago. They've been running this "show" for a while, how many hundreds of times do you think they'll run it before it gets on the air?

There's nothing that convinces me it's going to wind up on TV. I won't say never, but even if it somehow it beats the odds against it at this point and makes it to TV, I'm confident they won't be running the dozens of games that were played in a casino showroom. If this actually became a TV show, I suspect none of these "episodes" from the Plaza makes it to TV.

  28. I haven't read all of the comments, but as far as I can tell this is legit. My cousin and I called in yesterday and won tickets. They didn't tell us we had to be a couple, we just couldn't participate with the show because we weren't one but they told us we were welcome to sit in the audience! I've read up a lot about it and it all seems to be valid. They send you e-mails with all of the receipts and fine print, so if they don't give you your refund back... you have it all in writing!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah I just won tickets today. Not sure if I want to go or not. It sounds like it will be a hassle getting the 149 back. Not worried about the time share thing just wasn't thinking about all the fees associated with it. Should have figured.

  30. This is not a scam, however they dont pay for your tickets

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just won the package via answering a question on the phone. I am hesitant to pay the $149 due to my concerns on getting it back. I was told by the person on the phone, Daniel, that I would get 2 tickets to the show, a refund of my deposit and $100 slot pay. He also said I could come on the weekend for an small charge. I'm not sure if I would pay the small charge to Daniel or thru the hotel. Are my tickets paid for, when do I get my refund and how to I pay to stay on the weekends?

  32. I also "won" today, and I am not 100% sure about this ... even after reading this entire thread. Any advice/input that would definitely scare people away???

    ReplyDelete
  33. I just won these tickets today too. I am unsure whether to think I'm being ripped off or not. Has anyone used the tickets yet? If so, what are the perks and after it is all said and done.. How much did it end up costing you? Did you get your deposit back? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  34. You aren't "winning" anything! You are paying (by buying drinks) paying resort fees, taxes, etc. They are making money off of you, there is nothing wrong with that but stop deluding yourselves that you won something. You could probably get a similar room in Vegas for $49 a night on a week night and not have any of your time taken by the "game show" and if you did want to see the "game show" I am sure you could, just pay for drinks like everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  35. We just won tickets. I wish more people who won and went would comment. If I want speculation I'll watch the national news.

  36. Are you people nuts??? It's a scam to get you out there so they can put pressure on you to buy something!!!! They put up something of no or little value and you get screwed out of time and money. OMG America, wake up!!!!!

    1. I think your partially correct. I don't believe it's a scam in the classic definition of the word.
You've not "won" anything. They are simply asking for some money so a slew of people aren't calling in, booking rooms, and not showing up.

Where things get a little fuzzy is even though you "get your money back" you loose a bit of that cash to participate in their game show (either on stage or in the audience).
So I would look at this instead as: 3 days, 2 nights in Vegas for $149.00. Which is not bad. Can you find a cheaper place to stay in Vegas? Sure you could. But if that price does't bother a person for a room then they have a pretty good deal going on.

    2. I am some friends that will be utilizing this "prize" next week. Please be assured that part of the deal is absolutely the fact they will have to attend a timeshare presentation!

  38. I'm a 21 year old college student, so it's not like I have all of this money to blow anyway. I just asked my mom about it today, and she just nodded at me sadly and mouthed the words "scam". But she's right though. If you actually won something like this, at the most you should only have to pay taxes. A lot of this money accounts to way more than taxes. If anything, there should just be a room deposit fee, but you should not be obliged to pay for drinks..ect. A guy actually called me this morning and wanted the deposit today, but me being a college student I didn't have the 149.I do have a major credit card that wouldn't send me into overdraft if I gave them the number. Still sounds sketchy though. If I have to pay all of that money out of pocket from my part time minimum wage job... I guess they can keep their "prize". I guess that makes me a loser.

  39. I need to know if anyone had actually gone and was it atleast a good time, I have called the plaza it if a real thing, and they have an extension for the department. I am also concerned about the refund thing. But I've slap seen a lot of ppl saying they will be"bankrupt" before refunding anyone money but this is from a yr our do ago and it's still going at the same rate and all so what's really goin on

  40. I just looked at the terms and conditions and came across the following: "By accepting the vacation you understand and agree to allow Trifecta Entertainment Group and its' affiliates / sponsors to use your image in their commercial endeavors and agree to allow affiliates / sponsors to contact you via phone, email or other methods including automated dialer to share other offers with you. I have read the Terms and Conditions of this Lovers or Losers Vacation." Your information is being sold, and you are allowing sales calls EVEN IF YOU ARE ON THE DO NOT CALL REGISTRY (as you are waiving your rights invoked on the do not call registry).

  41. I just fell for the same offer. My problem is that i have not gotten the confirmation email as promised. I found the website for the activation but i don't have the voucher id# nor the other # to fill in the blank for activation. I will try calling that number tomorrow, but really doubtful.

  42. The Losers are the people, like me, who "Won a free trip to Vegas" through 100.3 The Sound. I am now caught in a ridiculous battle to get a $149 mandatory "deposit" back for the "Free" trip. This company is so unprofessional it is shocking. It is a total scam. And I'm horrified radio stations are still doing promotions with them. It is soooo uncool.

    1. Do tell: What did you get for your "free trip?" Did you have to pay a resort fee or taxes during your free hotel stay? Did using tickets to the show require you to meet a "one drink minimum" requirement? Why is it that you have to battle to get the deposit back if you booked and went on the trip?

  43. This is a scam to get you to go on a presentation with TLC vacation club. Everyone wins. The show is never going to be on TV, all the locals know it's a joke. You can book rooms cheaper on your own, promotional slot play, is not free $$

    ReplyDelete
  44. Holy Crap, I 've been working for this company trying to get people to cough up the refundable 149, etc. I would feel terrible is this was just a way to get you to the "timeshare" division. As for the drink fees, etc. I would hope it is still a little bit of overall value.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Doing my due diligence, I was trying to make sure that this Lovers & Losers game show was really legit. There was a commercial on 7/23/16 on the cable show GSN (Game Show Network) here in Illinois advertising for contestants. I called the number listed on TV. The spiel was $149.00 ... etc. so after discussing with my spouse, we decided to try it out. We weren't told that we had to buy drinks (we don't drink), but we were told we had to provide our own airfare. We were also told that the $149.00 would be refunded but we had to be at the show at the time we made a commitment to. We really hope this is not a scam. If it was, how could they do an commercial on TV for it? Will provide an update later on the outcome.

  46. TRUST. IT'S REAL. I'VE BEEN. HAPPENED TO BE IN VEGAS AND SOMEONE HADN'T SHOWN UP AND THEY NEEDED TO FILL THOSE SEATS SO THEY ASKED IF WE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN GOING. MY WIFE AND i SAID "SURE!". I WENT TO THE TICKET BOOTH TO GET TICKETS AND SAW EVERYONE GETTING THEIR $149 BACK IN THEIR HAND AND ASKED WHERE MY CASH WAS. OF COURSE, I DIDN'T GET ANY AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD SECURED THE TRIP WITH A DEPOSIT AND IT WAS NOW BEING REFUNDED ALONG WITH THE TICKETS TO THE SHOW. SO WE ORDERED A COUPLE OF DRINKS AND WENT IN. FABULOUS SHOW AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. AFTER ALL IT'S FREE AND TODD BRIDGES IS A GAS (FUNNY MF). THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OURSELVES. TOOK THE $100 DOLLARS SLOT PLAY AND PARLAYED IT INTO $3000. WE ENDED UP AT THE BLACKJACK TABLE AND I COULDN'T LOSE. BY THE WAY, THE DEALER WAS UPSET I WAS WINNING (STILL HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT WHY. IT WASN'T HER MONEY). SHE DID SAY SHE HAD BEEN DEALING 14 YEARS AND HAD NEVER BEEN BEATEN SO BAD. WE WENT BACK TO THAT TABLE THE NEXT DAY AND SHE WAS THERE AGAIN AND WAS STILL MAD. I QUICKLY LOST $300 AND GOT UP AND LEFT. PAID FOR EVERYTHING AND THEN SOME.

  47. TIMESHARE PONSI SCHEME:

I just got back from this trip.. My first problems started with Karen from Casa Blanca Express, she is apparently the ONLY person who deals with itineraries for this trip (or so everyone kept saying). She never emailed me any info at all regarding my vacation and I had tried calling for 2 weeks before my trip to have her email it to me. Other employees said she was out of the office for a couple days the first week but I had left probably 10 vmails with my name, phone, and email with no return call. They wouldn't transfer me to anyone else so on the last day I had before my trip my fiance had to be on the phone for over an hour to connect with her supervisor to get a lousy email saying we would be comped for the hotel. After we got there we got to the Plaza downtown (not close to the strip at all but at the end of Freemont St. which is a very fun experience in itself).
    Now the show...
Before you go to the show or get your $149 refund you will be required to sit through a high pressure 1 on 1 timeshare presentation with a TLC resorts rep.. In my case a balding 40 something, Jason, in too big khaki slacks and an over sized bowling shirt who sounds like he's been smoking cigarettes since he was born, is visibly high on cocaine, and looks like he sells used Cadillacs in downtown Detroit... My fiance and I did not buy a time share and trust me, as soon as we said no, there was no more mister nice guy with our seller. He was OPENLY angry and walked off like a baby and was incredibly rude and distant for the rest of the time we were in the meeting (they DO NOT let you leave a minute before their presentation is "over"). YOU ONLY HAVE A CHANCE TO BE ON THE SHOW IF YOU BUY A TIMESHARE AND THE AUDIENCE DOES NOT WIN ANYTHING. I'll give them that they dress it up really nicely (the timeshares, not our salesman) but the real losers are anyone who buys into this Ponsi scheme...
The other "prize" the $100 in promo slot play, is just that, promotional.. You use it on promo machines and there is no money value at all... Silly and since you can only put it in one machine (they have an area for promo machines) it gets old kind of quickly... All in all it was a fun trip but none of the Lovers or Losers stuff was necessary. The only thing we got from this was our hotel, which was one of the cheapest in Vegas... Sure beggers can't be choosers and there was a roof over our head to pass out under when we straggled in from the casinos at 3 am but mid star reservations would have been cool.. I know it specifically says the Plaza, and their new pool is nice when there aren't mobs of children in it, and Oscar's is a nice restaurant with a cool view (you get a $50 coupon if you do the 90 min session), but our cabbie accidentally took us to the Palazzo to start out sooo.... you can see why the accommodations were a little unimpressive after that... If you do decide to go, don't do the 90 min pres. for the oscar's card and slot play, not worth it. Take a cab to the strip and have a blast.

  48. love your descriptions!!! I think if we decide to go we will just book ourselves a trip since vegas is not even on my top 100 places I want to see ill spend my money somewhere else. thank you for responding with how your time actually was

  49. Well I won off an add on Comedy Central. You get 3days 2 nights, the Refund of $149, two tickets to the show(you could possibly be on and win additional prizes)and $100 in slot play . At first it did say I needed to be in a relationship (with the same address) but when I called that wasn't the case. They did advise I had a year to redeem voucher. I'm choosing New Year's Day and there was only a $50 up charge for the holiday. I haven't gone yet but I also have a flight voucher from spirit( thank you Mother Nature for weather advisories) so my air fair is free but round trip with Spirit flights from Detroit to Las Vegas are $300. That's only one night at the plaza and we get 2! So I booked at the end they slipped the time share bit in buttt I get more comps like another trip(no air fair)and $100 in food gift cards. For me! It's worth 90 minutes of me saying no and a game show that could get me on tv! I'm down!

  50. Lover's & Losers
SCAM PROJECT. I INTIALLY WAS GOING TO TAKE THIS TRIP WITH A GUY. I THOUGHT I WAS IN LOVE. WELL AFTER BEING ADMITTED INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR MULTIPLE INJURIES, BROKEN ARM & I LOSE SIGHT IN ONE OF MY EYES. I GUESS THATS OVER. I CALLED LOVERS & LOSERS IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, NOVEMBER & DECEMBER. CHASING A REFUND. IT WAS SO EASILY FOR THEM TO TAKE IT OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. BUT THEY HAVE TO SEND ME A CHECK. I WAS TOLD BACK IN November THAT THE CHECK WAS GOING TO BE SENT OUT. HERE IT IS TODAY I CALLED AND I WAS BASICALLY TOLD BY MS. L. SHE DIDNT SEE ANY REQUEST FOR A REFUND. THEY DONT HAVE ANY URGENCY FOR YOU. I NEVER WENT TO THIS PLACE, BUT I CAN TELL BY THE CSR. IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE THEY HAVE A LOT OF SURPRISES FOR YOU, THAT YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE..
TODD HAS BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH THE LEAST YOU CAN GIVE HIM IS A GOOD TEAM

  51. well I just "won" the mini vaca package and just to because I was a little skeptical I told them I didn't have that type of money to pay them ($149)THEY DID ALLOW ME TO PAY A $10.00 DEPOSIT PENDING MY RESEARCH ON THEM AND VERIFICATION OF VALIDITY, TO HOLD MY SPOT, WITH THE REMAINING 139.00 DUE 30 DAYS. SO BASICALLY THEY ARE ALLOWING ME TO THINK ABOUT THIS FOR THIRTY DAYS. NEVER ONCE DID THEY SAY OH OH NO YOU HAVE TO DO IT NOW. I ASKED ABOUT TIMESHARE PRESENTATION, ANSWER WAS NO......BUT YOU DO HAVE TO WATCH TIMESHARE VIDEOS (ADVERTISEMENTS) DURING BREAKS. THERE IS NO LONGER A 2 DRINK MINIMUM IT IS ONE DRINK AND WATER IS INCLUDED AT 2.50 A BOTTLE. STILL DOING SOME RESEARCH ILL POST AGAIN WHEN I FIND OUT MORE INFO

    1. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to hearing about what else you find.

I read recently that this show has reduced its weekly schedule to about three nights per week. That doesn't have to mean the end is near for the show, but the show has been going for nearly two years now... not a bad run, given what it is. I wouldn't expect it to stick around another two years.

The Plaza is a decent hotel, I stayed there last fall. It's not luxurious, but it's a decent property.

      Thanks for reading.

  52. I appeared on the show Feb. 14, 2017 (Valentime's Day) as cupid. My girlfriend did not show up, but it was fun anyway. I paid the $149 deposit, $99 was returned and they kept $50 to pay for four coupons for drinks redeemable only during the show. I was very pleased with the Penthouse room with good views. When/where will the show be broadcast?
